Mini excavators between 1 and 6 tonnes have very little weight to spare, so the attachment on the stick decides how the machine digs, how steady it stands and how long the pins last. How to choose

Start from the carrier weight
Every family here states a carrier weight range, and the model row inside it states a narrower one. A bucket drawn for a 5 tonne machine is too heavy for a 1.8 tonne one even though both are called mini, so read the row, not only the family.

Pick the width for the trench, not the machine
Trench width follows the pipe, the cable or the drainage bed. Order the bucket that matches the work and check that its capacity still leaves the machine stable at full reach. A wider bucket on a small carrier costs you breakout force and reach.

Choose the profile: digging, grading or skeleton
A general purpose bucket digs, a grading bucket cleans and levels, a skeleton bucket separates stone from soil and lets fines fall back. Crews that do all three usually run a narrow digging bucket, a wide grading bucket and one skeleton bucket on the same coupler.

Match the bracket to the coupler you already run
The bracket decides whether the tool fits. Tell us the coupler system on the machine, for example S30, S40, MS03 or a pin on fit with the pin diameter and centres, and we build the family to that bracket rather than shipping an adapter.

Decide on teeth and wear parts up front
Teeth help in hard and stony ground and get in the way when you grade or clean a bed. A bolt on cutting edge suits levelling work, a toothed lip suits digging. Both can be ordered on the same family, so decide by the work the machine does most weeks.
Questions we are asked
- Which machines count as mini here?
- Carriers from 1 to 6 tonnes. A family appears on this page when at least one of its model rows is rated for a carrier inside that band, read from the model table rather than assumed.
- Can I run a midi bucket on a mini excavator?
- Only if a model row of that family is rated for your carrier weight. A heavier bucket lowers stability at full reach and loads the boom and pins beyond what the machine was drawn for.
- What do you need from me to confirm a fit?
- The machine make and model, its operating weight, the coupler system or the pin dimensions, and the width you want. That is enough for us to name the model code and the bracket.
- Do the mini families take the same couplers as the larger ones?
- The bracket is chosen per order from the systems the family supports, so a mini family takes the small brackets of those systems. Give us the coupler on the machine and we set the bracket to it.
- How long does a mini attachment take to build?
- Lead time depends on the family, the width and the current load in the shop, so we state it in the written offer rather than here. Ask for it with the quote and it is part of the answer.
